FORMAT
The roleplaying game (RPG) of Dum Spiro Spero is set up in a free-form manner, which means that players write posts as part of topics as part of the ongoing storyline with little restrictions to the format that they post.
When not currently involved in an active storyline, the player may post in any out of character (OOC) section that they please. When placed in an active storyline, things are a little different: it is the player's responsibility to post what they do and say. If an action is not described by the player, then it is considered that they did not act in such a way. When participating in an active storyline, the player is advised to always remain in-character (IC). If there any issues, in-character may only be broken via Private Message (PM) to the parties involved.
All players are warned that there is a chance that their character may become seriously wounded / injured and may possibly even die. If this happens, it is to be taken strictly as a form of storytelling and no Admin or Game Master (GM) will ever purposely go out of their way to harm a player's character. While there is no telling who may live or who may die, but those who are active players stand a better chance at surviving. If a player's character does die, they are more than welcome to submit a new character, which will automatically be accepted and may begin playing again as soon as their character is introduced.
During storylines, all important actions will be determined by the Game Master. For example, if a character is placed in a scenario where they are surrounded by wolves, it is that player's responsibility to describe their actions without determining the outcome. The Game Master will then determine whether the character's actions were successful or not and what will happen to said character as a result in a follow up Game Master post. The storyline will be advanced occassionally by a Game Master post. The Game Master will post the results of all actions taken and lead the group in a certain direction storyline-wise. The players have complete control over their own actions. If the Game Master makes a post stating that the group crossed the street but previously a character had roleplayed leaving the group, that character will not be a part of the post; instead being directed to their own area of the forum where they will continue to roleplay on their own or with others (if applicable).
When an active storyline is made, the necessary forums will be created for that time. Not all characters may be together all the time. Things happen and people get seperated and thus if the player's character is seperated from the main group, they will be directed to another section of the forums where they will post from that point on until further notice while the rest of the group continues in the main thread. Once the storyline has been advanced to the point where those threads are no longer needed, they will be archived and locked so they can be reviewed at any point in the future.
